VYNE-L Cavaliers Single Gannet Review - Ellie Cawte

If they haven't already, Winchester boys Cavaliers will soon work their way onto your radar very soon. And if they don't, get them on it yourself.

Their latest single 'Gannet', out today, a track in keeping with their intriguing invigorating sound. It's a careful concoction of Morrisey-esque soothingly wailed vocals, Two Door Cinema Club style twanging alt-pop-rock instrumentals and upbeat Foals tropical sounds. And if all of that's not enough for you, a hint of early U2 euphoria rounds off the edges.

The song pays homage to earlier tracks such as 'Kelso vs The Moon Landing' with similarly paradoxic upbeat riffs and lyrics that, taken in the right (or wrong?) way can tug at any last wavering heartstrings anyone has left.

Forget what you know about indie-pop as Cavaliers, their eccentric song titles and purposefully less than glossy production will change everything. This new single allures to very promising new things from these local boys and an exponentially upcoming band.

'Gannett' is available to listen to now via Soundcloud, BandCamp and iTunes.
